(Elenore, Queen of England and Duchess of Aquitaine, sits in her room, reading a love letter. Henry, King of England, comes bursting into her room.)
HENRY
Elenore!
ELENORE
Getting bold, my dear An- (She turns around) Henry!
HENRY
I’ve come to take you home.
ELENORE
I am home…
HENRY
England.
ELENORE
(Laughing) No.
HENRY
You’ve been out of control for too long here.
ELENORE
Whatever do you mean?
HENRY
You’ve taken over this court, turned it into some circus of frivolity, and don’t think I’m unaware of your contribution to Edward’s rebellion.
ELENORE
Oh… that.
HENRY
You are to return with me to England and stand trial for treason. (Draws his sword)
ELENORE
Oh, Henry, you always were my least favorite cousin.
(She draws a sword)
HENRY
Really, Elenore?
ELENORE
I’ve been studying with the Count of Champagne.
HENRY
Is that what you’re calling it these days?
(They fight. During the scuffle, Henry discovers a stack of letters.)
HENRY
How many lovers do you have?
ELENORE
It’s not my fault so many men have good taste.
(They fight more.)
ELENORE
You always did enjoy swordplay.
HENRY
Shame you were never good with the blade.
(They fight more. Henry defeats Elenore.)
HENRY
There! Enough of this! We are returning to England and you shall stand trial.
ELENORE
Will you really kill me, Henry?
HENRY
… It will be a shame to destroy such a lovely face. (Covers her head with a handkerchief or sack) Ah! No problem now.
(He leads her out)
