MARGOT sits in silence absorbed in her book.
CLYDE, assassin for hire, but otherwise average guy uses a key to enter the apartment. He walks
with deliberate steps, knife poised to slit Margot’s throat from behind.
Margot rises to attend something on the stove. She stirs then turns to face Clyde.
Clyde hides the knife at his side.
MARGOT
Who are you? How did you get in?
CLYDE
So many questions. You don’t need to know.
Clyde approaches her, knife still hidden.
MARGOT
You’re not here to rob me, what then?
CLYDE
Does it matter?
(They circle each other)
MARGOT
Who hired you?
CLYDE
Sorry, I have a code. I have honor
MARGOT
Seriously!? What if I pay you?
CLYDE
What can you offer?
MARGOT
Triple. Let’s say I’m comfortable.
CLYDE
Agreed. A woman of independent means. I get why he wants you dead, you have the money.
Margot is upset, she figured out who ordered the hit.
MARGOT
That bastard.
(Clyde lays on the floor and gasps for air.)
CLYDE
We had a deal.
MARGOT
He wants me killed because I have no honor code.
(Margot finishes Clyde, composes herself then dials her hubby, Tony.)
Tony, it’s me. Call the police. (pauses for question)
A man attacked me… tried to kill me. Come quickly, please.
